17th Representative District Map
Representatives from 118 districts make up the Illinois House of Representatives. The legislature passed a new map into law in summer 2011, to be used in the 2012 primary and general election. Representatives will take office in January, 2013, representing these new districts. The new 17th District is sort of a barbell shape, entirely in the near north suburbs, spanning about 10 miles from Green Bay Road in Evanston, west to the Tri-State Tollway. West Winnetka and Glencoe, the portion of Skokie south of Main, and much of northern Glenview and Northbrook have been mapped out. To compensate, the Evanston portion of the 17th has more than doubled, and the district also now extends a little further west. The 17th has been represented since January, 2011 by Daniel K. Biss (D-Evanston), who is now running for state senate in the 9th Senate District. Click here to download the map below as a PDF.
